Mercedes-Benz Introduces First-Ever Vessel To The World

As mentioned at Highsnobiety, Mercedes-Benz have finally launched the Arrow460-Granturismo, with the assistance of UK based yacht manufacturer Silver Arrows Marine. The yacht is a true depiction of luxury, style and features of the trademarks of a Mercedes project.

The idea of this yacht project by a global automobile manufacturer company was uncovered in 2012 at the Monaco Yacht Show. This is the first ever motor yacht introduced by Mercedes-Benz Company, famous for luxury vehicles.

The yacht is 14 meters (45.9 feet) long and was exposed to media during test drive at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the French Riviera. A few journalists were invited from around the world to the South of France. The reports said that one country will get one boat only and only 10 boats are planned to be produced, all having incredible functionalities totally unique from each other. Each owner will find own yacht far fetched and astonishing with endless modifications allowed.

Arrow460 Granturismo, nicknamed as ‘Silver Arrow of the Seas’, is equipped with twin Yanmar diesel engines for power-up, at 480 horsepower each. So the cruising speed of yacht is up to 30 knots and top speed to 40+ knots with a light load.

The interior, said to be made up of nu buck leather and eucalyptus wood paneling, is not yet complete but information released is that above two were expansively used while creating the yacht.

Other notable features include retractable large side windows (that will automatically adjust with sunlight), out-stretchable windscreen, luxurious bathroom unit, air conditioning system, separate dressing room, high-quality audio system, ice-making machine, a wine-cellar and extendable beds easily available whenever and wherever. It can adjust up to 10 persons at a time. In short, motor yacht has comfortable interior open to the sea so that people can enjoy all-round view.

Price has not been set yet but suggestions earlier reported were about $1.7 million (£1.2 million).

 

The chairman of Silver Arrows Marine, Ron Gibbs, said ‘By ensuring that the yachts all go to different countries we can guarantee that just one individual in each country will be able to say: “I am the first captain of the first Silver Arrows of the seas”. We are already in discussion with potential owners and reservations are now being taken on first-come, first-served basis’.
